April 28- May 2, 2014

This week our students attended our Spring Ace-It Seminars! These are some pictures of our "Looming into Spring" Seminar! Students learned how to create bracelets through different techniques with out a loom. We learned how to do a fish tail and inverted fish tail with the use of two pencils, and the dragon scale with the use of a fork. Some Falcons took their creativity to a new level and created unique charms for their bracelets and headbands. Great job Falcons!

Congratulations and best of luck to our 6th grade Falcons who are going to compete in this year's UIL State Competition in UTSA, we are very proud of you! On a different note we have only two weeks left before the STAAR so we will continue our Mathematics Review. 

Students: Please start taking your Math journal home and study any objectives you need help with.

This past week in SAT our 6th grade's Falcons learned a cheesy lesson in square roots. Students used cheez its to understand perfect squares and practiced their knowledge with the "I have, who has?" game.

March 31-April 4, 2014



As we say good bye to a busy month we welcome one of the most important months in our school year. Welcome April! This month our Falcons will take the STAAR Exams and we have to finish preparing, this is the month when all of our hard work pays off. This week in Math we will review everything about angles and degrees of triangles and quadrilaterals. In SAT Math we will learn all about perfect and non-perfect square roots.

Week of March 24-28, 2014



As March comes to an end we are 4 weeks away from STAAR and we need to start reviewing all of our 6th grade Math objectives. This week in SAT Math we are going to focus on adding and subtracting integers through different class activities.

Week of March 3-7, 2014

We welcome yet another month, and we start getting ready to receive sunny days as Spring Break approaches us.This week we will review Experimental and Theoretical Probability and if time allows we will build a Tetrahedron Kite out of straws and tissue paper.

After such a busy and successful previous week we move on to another important week, our Falcons will be taking the second District Benchmark. It is essential that all students get a good night rest, and healthy breakfast and some studying done.

Week of February 17-21, 2014

A special thank you, to all my 6th Grade Falcons who took their time to bring me some cards and chocolate among other gifts on this gorgeous sunny Valentine's Day, I truly appreciate all of you. On a different note the Fourth Six Weeks are coming to an end, and we are closing them with a "busy-bee" week. This week we have Six Weeks Exams and Six Weeks final projects due, as well as our Science Fair and the Starr County Fair.

Reminder: If you turn in the License Plate Project earlier than Friday you will receive 10 extra points. Please be responsible and turn in any assignments before they are due if you have to participate in any function outside of class.

Love is in the Air, and so is Math! This busy week we will start reviewing the relationship between radius, diameter and circumference. In SAT Math we are going to start a ratios and proportion recipe project.

Week of February 3-7, 2014




Hello February! The month to celebrate love and friendship is here and once again we need to set new academic goals and continue to challenge ourselves every day.

Honors Math: This week we will start reviewing ratios and proportions.
SAT Math: As students finish designing the floor plan of their dream home the will start calculating the area of the floor and walls of each dream room.

Week of January 27-31, 2014

January is coming to an end and we're experiencing some very low temperatures which we are not used to, so please stay warm. This week we are going to complete our blue task cards and review how to find the greatest common factor and the least common multiple in a set of numbers. In SAT class we will begin designing the floor plans for the dream home project.

Week of January 20-24, 2014


6th Grade Math- we will review some of our objectives from the first six weeks through task cards in our interactive notebook.

SAT Math- This week students will be introduced to the rubric and expectations for the "Design Your Dream Home" project.

This week instead of a "POW" (problem of the week) students will have a Test of Genius due on Friday for extra credit.

"Always do your best. What you plant today you will harvest tomorrow." Here is a picture of the harvest in our Falcon vegetable garden.

Week of January 13-17, 2014

It's our second week back in our fresh new second semester! The first week was a busy and short week but more than anything wonderful! I got to see our Falcons are refreshed after the Christmas break and so ready to take on this Spring Semester with a new positive attitude.

This week we will be reviewing area and volume in Math and designing our robot in SAT.

Reminder: Don't forget to make a clothes donation in your homeroom class for our "Share The Warmth" Falcon clothes drive.

Week of January 7- 10, 2014

Welcome Back Falcons!

A fresh new beginning! This week we began by cleaning and organizing all our materials such as our binders, journals and cubbies. Falcons shared their academic new year resolutions during class and each wrote a "Rockin' Resolution" Slip
